Transits of Venus and Mercury, despite being extraordinary astronomical events that appeal to one’s imagination, rarely make their appearance in a movie or television series. A recent exception is the 2007 movie Sunshine. The crew of the spacecraft Icarus watches a transit of Mercury over de solar face as they are on their way to the Sun.
